We support veterans all over Australia and also those temporarily or permanently located overseas, so can accommodate any level of interaction or style of interaction that you prefer.

Step Two - Appointment of Representative

Step two is about formalising our relationship as your veteran Advocate.

Following the development of your personalised Action Plan at step one, you then need to decide whether to engage Australian Veteran Advocacy as your official DVA Representative, so that we may interact with DVA on your behalf and enact the Action Plan as developed.

If you would like to proceed we will need two things:

  • A completed Nomination of Representative form (D9325), available here: https://www.dva.gov.au/sites/default/files/dvaforms/d9325.pdf

    • this is a DVA requirement and provides the legal authority for Australian Veteran Advocacy to interact with DVA on your behalf

    • this form is submitted to DVA and held on your file

    • the appointment of a representative can be revoked by you at any time simply by contacting DVA directly, either verbally or in writing

  • A signed and dated copy of our Client Agreement

    • this is the formal contract for the Advocate services provided by Australian Veteran Advocacy and importantly it sets out the responsibilities of each party, the scope and nature of our services, and our fee structure

    • the contract is valid for a period of five years, though withdrawal by either party is permissible

    • a blank copy of the contract can be downloaded here: Client Agreement

Before deciding if Australian Veteran Advocacy is the right choice for you, please take particular note of the fees that might be payable in return for our representation and support, as detailed in our Client Agreement. Key points are outlined below for convenience:

  • fees for advocacy support are only payable if a compensation payment offer is received for permanent impairment or disability

  • the fee is calculated at 5% of the compensation value

  • total fees payable are capped at $7,500 plus GST for the entire five year life of the contract, regardless of the number of claims processed

  • support continues for the five year life of the contract, even after the fee cap is reached
